Pete Simon
Day job: Principal User Experience Architect, Digital Inovation Group / Sears Holdings
Description: Pete is many things, some small pieces of which you can see here through the frosted lens of the Internet. He’s doing many things in his life out of order, and for the most part does what he wants and what feels right, instead of what most other people tell him he should do. So far, this is working out pretty well. He is in his (very) early 40s. The more time he spends here, the more it seems clear that you have the kind of life you decide to create around you. He has a high-end tech job; at other times he’s lived a life of intrigue and danger. But now, not so much. He does information architecture and experience design for people with lots of pennies, and he also does some work for people with no pennies at all. Pete is still getting a feel for where his compass needle is pointing . . . but he makes a good living looking, it seems. His job description in his own words: ”I’m a Jedi Knight working for a think tank in downtown Chicago, helping Uncle Sears and his friends with their problems.”
