Way back in February 2009, Manifest Digital sponsored the interaction ’09 conference, organized by the Interaction Design Association. Jim Jacoby, Manifest’s founder and chief experience officer, gave this address on “UX Designers and Business Leaders.”
So? Well, my UX friends, Jim’s address is kind of the rationale for UX for Good and UXXU 2011. And, funny enough, Jeff and I re-discovered Jim’s message just the other day and we made the connection. Weird the way things work sometimes. I mean, here we are more than a year later, and the UX for Good movement is underway with support from the UX community. It has taken a bit of time, but the UX profession is beginning to realize the true power of UX thinking. Jim was pioneer, and he’s continuing to work with Jeff and me on carrying the message forward.
Jim’s presentation is a resounding call to action for our UX profession to rise up and recognize ourselves as visionary, opportunity-identifying, change leaders. The time is now. Your moment is what you make of it.
