Before launching UXXU 2011, we field-tested the idea of using UX designers to tackle complex social challenges. On September 22, 2010, we gave a roomful of designers about a half-hour to re-engineer Streetwise, a printed magazine that the unemployed sell to make money. Of course, printed magazines aren’t exactly growing in popularity and these unemployed folks – many of whom are homeless – aren’t plugged in to sell digital content.
The results were rather remarkable, blowing both our minds and the minds of executives at Streetwise. Here are photos from the September meeting at the offices of Manifest Digital.
